8.Limit the voices that speak into your child’s life and watch for signs of attitude and thinking changes. (Be on the lookout for footholds)
Another scripture to model to your children is Proverbs 4:23 “Above all else, guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life. This is not talking about the blood pumper that lives in your chest it's talking about your attitude.

7. Go to Church, small Group and model serving
Don't just send your children to church take them there. I love Luke 4:16 it says “He (Jesus) went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the sabboth day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom.
If she was in the habit of going to church we should too!

6. Instill in your child to honor their parents and all who are in authority

Exodus 20:12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you is something your kids should practice and know why this is a good choice at every age. It's also something for you to model.
Ephesians 6:1-3 tells us that obeying is a way to show honor. “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother-which is the first commandment with a promise_ that it may go well with you and that you enjoy long life on the earth.

5. Make choices based on God’s word
Psalm 119:9-16 is an important scripture to know and live!
9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.
10 I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. 11 I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you. 12 Praise be to you, O LORD;
teach me your decrees.13 With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. 14 I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches.
15 I meditate on your precepts
and consider your ways. 16 I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.

4. Model applying yourself.... Do your best! This is something your children need to see as well as hear from you!
• Ecclesiastes 9:10 “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might another key scripture is 2 Timothy 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
I love how the word used for study in the KJV is translated "do your best" in the NIV. You children need to see this in your life
Why not...

2. Take advantage of the time God has given you!
God’s plan for parenting is found in Deuteronomy 6:1-9 let's look at these verses...
1 These are the commands, decrees and laws the LORD your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess, 2 so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the LORD your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life. 3 Hear, O Israel, and be careful to obey so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the LORD, the God of your fathers, promised you. 4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.

Here's what I want you to see...
• Parents set the example spiritually for your children (Model what you want them to do now and later)

• Live consistently and expect your children to do the same.

• Use the time God has given you to talk about the Lord and His word! (When you get up, when you stay at home, when you travel to where you are going, and when you go to bed.)

I love being near family again! For half of my ministry I was 12 hours away from my family. To just be 3 hours away I feel extreemly blessed! We started in ministry near Julie's family then moved near my family. When we moved on the other side of the Mississippi River it was neat how the Lord sent people into our lives who became like family. When we moved back South I wasn't sure that my kids would move too. They did, I'm so blessed! Now for all of us to be so close to our extended family it's a blessing I didn't see coming, but that's the kind of God we serve... "One who blesses us more than we could ever ask or think!"

I got a sweet email tonight...

"We recently hosted Yancy here for a concert. She was great! The kids loved her. Even though the attendance was not what I had hoped for, her performance was professional, enthusiastic, scriptural and fun. Most of all, I appreciate her passion for ministering to children. She has a new group of fans!
